Kenney, Robert Marshall passed away peacefully on May 22, 2020 in his 70th year. Robert was predeceased by his dear mother Marie (Marshall) Kenney and father Hamilton Kenney. "Bob" was a long time french language teacher in Ottawa loved by his students and fellow teachers for his dedication and compassion for others. He was an accomplished pianist, a high level bridge player and he had an enduring passion for all things British. Bob will be missed by his surviving cousins and those whose lives he has touched over the years.
Due to Covid 19 there will be a private family service at the Kenney headstone at Beechwood Cemetery.

I met Bob in high school and we never lost contact. He was a kind person and a loyal friend. Despite many years of significant health problems, he kept his sense of humour and seemed to avoid becoming bitter, even during his last years in chronic care. His suffering is over now, but I am grieved at his death and I will miss him.

Bob and I met at Glebe Collegiate in Ottawa when he was a student and I was a beginning teacher. A loyal and valiant person and friend, he always persevered in the face of severe physical challenges. His interests were many and although we met only sporadically over the years, he was always a delight to talk to. I admired his ingenuity and also his dedication to his parents’ care during their long, declining years. In the Bruyere, he spoke about how much he enjoyed the view from his window, as well as the activities he was, with difficulty, still able to manage. It was a restricted life, but he was, nevertheless, inspiring. I feel very sad that he is no longer alive.

Mr. Kenney was frequently our substitute French teacher in elementary school. He touched my life and the lives of other students in such a positive way. My fondest memories are of his great sense of humour and the French Jeopardy games he organized to keep the students engaged. I was very sad to learn of his passing.
