Marilyn Jane Moffatt passed away peacefully at home on the morning of April 20, 2020 at the age of 86 years with her loving husband Barry Moffatt at her side.

Loving Mother of Kathy (John) Stuart, (Waterloo, Ontario); Nancy Moffatt (Huntsville, Alabama); Rob (Louise Morin), Jeff (Bobbi Faulkner), Steve (Tammy). She is survived by her adoring Grandchildren Katie, Lauren, Matt, Alex, Michael, Robyn, Nicholas, Brendan, Aidan, Jack and her Great-Grandchildren Elizabeth, Cameron, and Dylan.

Marilyn's life was a testament of caring and compassion, to her family, friends and anyone who had the honour and good fortune of knowing her. Born in Stratford, Ontario on February 11, 1934 to Jack and Myrtle "Talc" Mills, she spent her early years in Gananoque, Ontario and followed her passion for Nursing, graduating with her designation as a Registered Nurse from Kingston General Hospital in 1955 where she remained an active member of the alumni. She was justifiably proud of her work in caring for others and it became a fundamental part of her core values and principles throughout her life.

Barry and Marilyn settled in Ottawa in 1956 and raised a family together. With a busy home of five children, she managed to provide more than her fair share of love, support, and attention to her entire family. She was a dedicated, committed, and proud Wife, Mother, and family Matriarch. The family spent many happy summers together at their cottage on Big Rideau Lake and for many years, Barry and Marilyn enjoyed their community of close friends at their winter home in Fort Lauderdale.

Throughout her life, Marilyn was a tireless volunteer who gave of her time and energy to provide comfort to many in times of need. She was an active volunteer for many years with The May Court Hospice in Ottawa, The Kiwanis Club of Ottawa, as well as with The Canadian Cancer Society where she led the Ottawa Patient Services Group and provided her boundless compassion to the extended community. She was respected and admired for her unwavering commitment to make a difference to those in need and support efforts to pursue excellence in healthcare. It was a role she was strongly devoted to and her work made a profound difference to many.

She will also be fondly remembered by her community of friends at The Royal Ottawa Golf Club where she was an active member and contributed her time serving in roles as both Ladies Captain and Ladies President. Her years spent with her extensive family of friends at The Royal, were some of her happiest and many were blessed by her outgoing nature and became instant, lifelong friends.

Hers was a life lived to the fullest. She believed in the sanctity of family, the pursuit of a higher purpose in loving and serving others, and in always standing firm in her principles of compassion, respect, and empathy for all. Her pride in her family was second to none and we will all miss her dearly and remember her fondly forever.

A private family service will take place and a Celebration of Life will be planned for the summer of 2020.

"Farewell to you, my love, my time is almost done
Lie in my arms once more until the darkness comes
You filled all my days, held the night at bay, dearest companion
Years pass by and they're gone with the speed of birds in flight
Our lives like the verse of a song heard in the mountains
Give me your hand and love and join your voice with mine
And we'll sing of the hurt and the pain and the joy of living"
Ewan McColl
