It is with sadness that his family announces the passing of Pierre Julien on September 24, 2021 at the age of 93.

Pete was predeceased by his siblings Jeanne (Bert Kipp), Raymond (Jacqueline), Raoul (Joyce), Marcel (Thérèse), Roland (Gisèle), and Soeur Rolande Julien, as well as his beloved nephew and nieces: Bert (Marcelle), Raun and Joanne Kipp.

He leaves Suzanne, his wife of 57 years, his daughter, Natalie, dear son-in-law, James Worrall, and grandchildren Zoé and Léo: the lights of his life. He also leaves treasured nephews and nieces Marlene Woods (Lorne), Bill (Ann), Bob (Faye), and Mike Kipp and a large, lovely extended family of nieces, nephews, grandnephews and nieces and cousins.

Pete was orphaned at a young age, and was lovingly raised by his eldest sister Jeanne and Idolized brother-in-law, Bert Kipp, along with their children, who he treasured as beloved siblings throughout his life. Pete was a shy man, with a great sense of humour, a trove of stories, and an irresistible toothless grin. He loved and played many sports, and was a fanatical fan of the New York Yankees. He took the greatest joy in his family, and had a great gift for making the most of life's small pleasures.

Pete's family wishes to thank the staff at the Ottawa Civic Hospital for their compassionate care in his final days. We extend heartfelt thanks to Dr Adrianna Bruni, palliative care physician, for her deep human kindness and profound commitment to making Pete's last hours comfortable.

A Celebration of Pete's life will be held in the Sacred Space at Beechwood Cemetery on Thursday, October 7, 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. All are welcome. Family are also welcome to attend a simple graveside service at 2:30 p.m.

Our sympathies to Suzanne, Natalie, and all of Pete’s family. We will remember him fondly, miss him at the Worrall/Julien family get-togethers, and hope he has passed on his astonishing ‘dame de pique’ skills to his and our grandchildren!!

My condolences to Suzanne and Natalie and all of Pete's family. I met Pete just a couple of times - the last time was a Father's Day supper for a favourite smoked meat meal (Nate's in south Ottawa, I believe). He was always charming and had a twinkle in his eye. Love and hugs.

Dear Natalie and Suzanne,

Sending our deepest sympathy for your loss, we hope you find strength and comfort in each other as you navigate through this sad time. I didn’t know Pete well, but I he always struck me as a very kind person, and certainly a very loving father and grandfather. We are thinking of you all, and sending our love from Newfoundland.

Yours,
Jennifer and Dave
