Marie Jacqueline Monique LeBlanc (neé Dion) , beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Lady extraordinaire passed peacefully in the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Ottawa on 22 July, 2019 at the age of 87.
Monique was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the eldest daughter of Molly and Léon Dion on 2 May 1932 and shortly after her birth moved to Québec City. She graduated Secretarial College in Québec and worked for Bell Canada as a telephone operator, then for Dominion Corset as a secretary and occasional model. In 1952 she met Maurice (Smokey) LeBlanc and married January 1953 at St Patrick's Cathedral, Québec City. Their love match would continue for 62 years until his passing. They had two children, Céleste, born in March 1954 and Paul born in May 1956. The family would live in Québec until they moved to Camp Borden, Ontario a military posting, where they would remain for 4 years, returning to Quebec in 1962. It was during those years after returning to the work place that Monique became the first and for awhile the only female Insurance agent for Allstate in Eastern Canada. The family moved to Ottawa, in 1971, where during the 4 years they lived there she worked for AB Dick. In 1975 they moved to Lahr West Germany, where she travelled extensively and did volunteer work. They returned to Canada, and lived for a short while in Montreal followed by a move to Camp Gagetown, New Brunswick. Upon her husband's retirement from the military they moved to Petawawa where she did volunteer work at the Library and taught bridge at the Seniors' Centre. In 1990 they returned to Lahr West Germany for 5 years and she worked in the School Resource Library. They moved to Québec City to take care of ailing parents until their final move to Mountain, Ontario to live on their son's Vineyard.
Monique is survived by her daughter, Celeste (spouse Paul), her son Paul (spouse Debbie), Grandchildren: Claude (spouse Carly), Philip (spouse Pam), Maurice (spouse Vanessa), Danielle (spouse John); and Great-grandchildren Leah, Kiera, Jack, Nathan, Isla, Jaina, Éowyn.
Friends are invited to gather at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. on Monday July 29th after 10 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life in the Sacred Space at 11 a.m. Both her and her husband will be interred in Section 27 of the National Military Cemetery together and a reception will follow.

En 1952, elle rencontre Maurice (Smokey) LeBlanc et se marie en janvier 1953 à la cathédrale Saint-Patrick, à Québec. Leur match amoureux se poursuivra pendant 62 ans jusqu'à son décès. Ils eurent deux enfants, Céleste, né en mars 1954 et Paul, né en mai 1956. La famille habitera au Québec jusqu'à ce qu'ils déménagent à Camp Borden, en Ontario, dans une affectation militaire, où ils resteront 4 ans avant de revenir au Québec en 1962. C'est au cours de ces années après son retour au travail que Monique est devenue la première et pendant un certain temps la seule femme agent d'assurances pour Allstate dans l'est du Canada. La famille a déménagé à Ottawa en 1971, où elle a travaillé pendant 4 ans pour AB Dick. En 1975, ils s'installent à Lahr, en Allemagne de l'Ouest, où elle voyage beaucoup et fait du bénévolat. Ils sont revenus au Canada et ont vécu quelques temps à Montréal, puis au camp Gagetown, au Nouveau-Brunswick. Après le départ à la retraite de son mari, ils ont déménagé à Petawawa, où elle a travaillé bénévolement à la bibliothèque et a enseigné le bridge au Seniors' Centre. En 1990, ils sont rentrés à Lahr en Allemagne de l'Ouest pendant 5 ans et elle a travaillé à la bibliothèque de ressources scolaires. Ils ont déménagé à Québec pour s'occuper de parents malades jusqu'à leur dernier déménagement à Mountain, en Ontario, pour vivre dans le vignoble de leur fils.
Monique laisse dans le deuil sa fille, Céleste (épouse Paul), son fils Paul (épouse Debbie), petits-enfants: Claude (épouse Carly), Philip (épouse Pam), Maurice (épouse Vanessa), Danielle (épouse John); et arrière-petits-enfants Leah, Kiera, Jack, Nathan, Isla, Jaina, Éowyn.
Parents et amis sont invités au Centre commémoratif national Beechwood, 280 av Beechwood, lundi le 29 juillet à compter de 10:00. Une célébration de sa vie aura lie en l’espace sacrée à 11h, suivie d'une inhumation avec son mari dans la section 27 du Cimetière militaire national et d’une réception.
