Joseph Carl Roenspies

It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Roenspies announce his passing on March 24, 2020 at age 85.
He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband to Terry (Mary Kelly) his wife of 58 years, and as a great Dad and selfless father to Colleen (Bruce Robinson), Royce (Barb Nichols) and Michaela (Patrice Martin) as well as a cherished grandfather to Madeleine Martin.
Joe was one of the youngest in a large family. He is predeceased by his Dad August Roenspies and his mother Bula Williams, as well as siblings Bud, Alice, Joan, Ken, Walt, Harold and Ross.
Joe was an active member of his community, having coached hockey and ball for many years in the Gloucester area. He was also a member of his church choir and joined other choirs and glee clubs at his different postings. He loved playing his guitar and getting people to join in sing-alongs.
Upon retirement, he and his wife became snowbirds and travelled back and forth to Arizona for the next twenty-five years. They also took several trips to the British Isles and Europe as well as several other warmer climes.
Due to the current COVID-19 precautions, a memorial service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society are appreciated.
Farewell, Joe. I lovingly recall your stories - true or not. You were a wonderful storyteller and you loved your family fiercely.
