Peacefully and with grace, our dearest Mom, Gramma/Gran passed away in her 102nd year.  She was predeceased by the love of her life of almost 60 years, husband Donald Thompson. She will be greatly missed by many including her children, Donald Jr. (Audrey), Rodney (Heather), Faith (Dick ), Meredith (Alan), Merrillee, Gaye (Mark), Nancy (Troy), Jeff (Susan), Christine (Norman) and Joyce (Nick),  sisters Elsie, Irene and brother Wesley. She was predeceased by her son Carter (Sandra) and daughter Susan, as well as siblings, Maisie, Dorothy, Yvonne, Maurice, John and Clarence.

Although Dimples was born in North Bay, she and her family settled in Ottawa. It was here that she met and married Donald Sr. and where they built their home in the community of Overbrook.  They had an open-door policy for all, with the tea kettle always on.

Emma was a strong, independent woman, with a real zest for life.  She was a loving wife and wonderful mother to twelve children, grandmother to twenty-one, great-grandmother to twenty-eight, and great great-grandmother to three.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the wonderful care she received at Renfrew Hospice.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private celebration of life with family will take place at Beechwood Cemetery. Condolences and tributes may be left at www.beechwoodottawa.ca .

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation in memory of Emma to the Canadian Cancer Society, or Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

My deepest condolences to all of you.
I know you all shared special moments with your mom.
I've known her since I was a little girl and what I remember most of all is laughter.
I grew up 2 doors away. We would often play in your backyard.
As your mom hung laundry on the clothe line, she would look at us and laugh.
... I guess that's because we all got along so well... or perhaps because of May-May and Richard's frequent weddings (we were all part of the wedding party).
As I grew up, many things changed, but Mrs Thompson's laughter was constant.
We often shared a cup of coffee, a chat and a giggle.
Now that she has moved on to higher places, Dimples' smile and laughter will surely add more brightness to the Heavens.

Mrs. Thompson was very truly a most wonderful person. Every time I stepped into 264 Donald Street I felt I was part of the family. She even made sure that someone would go to the store to get a quart of milk so I could have it with my supper. Those were the days! Some things are never forgotten even after all these years. May she rest in peace. My sincere sympathy and condolences to the family.

What I remember most about Mrs Thompson is her beautiful warm smile that could light up a room. We were neighbours for many years. I was truly blessed when Mrs Thompson offered to babysit my son. She and Mr Thompson treated Richard like he was their own grandchild. Richard called them Grandma and Grandpa.
Mrs Thompson will continue to live in the hearts of everyone she touched.
Deepest condolences to the family.
Rest in Peace Mrs Thompson

I was thinking of Dimples recently. My mom (Sandra McInyre) kept in touch with her for many many years after their first meeting in the early 1960s. I have fond memories of visiting and always feeling welcomed. My most sincere condolences. Cheryl Brouse
