In loving memory of Aggelis Lafkas

January 26, 1934 – May 7, 2020

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.  Aggelis was a devoted husband to the late Eftehia (nee Mouroukas), loving father to John, Christos (Chantal Beaumier) and Nicholas (Argiro Sigouna).  Cherished grandfather of Christopher (Lucy), Andrew (Jennifer), Angelica (Scott Burden), Adrianna (Matthew), Constantine (Mackenzie), Eftehia and Antonia.  Great grandfather to James, Ellie, Sloane and Leo.  Dear son of the late Ioannis and Angeliki, brother to George (Afroditi Lagges), Tasia (Diamantis Delis) and the late Konstantina (Panayiotis Vlahakis).  He will also be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the Saint-Vincent hospital for their compassionate care.

Due to the present public health situation, a private funeral service will take place graveside.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date once social distancing measures have been lifted.

Aggelis was a devoted Orthodox Christian who truly loved the church and served as an Altar Assistant for many years.  In memoriam of Aggelis, and in lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to the “Dormition of the Virgin Mary” Greek Orthodox Church (1315 Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa, ON, K2C 1N2).  You may make an online donation in memory of Aggelis by clicking here.  Please make sure in the “Donation Note” to indicate “In memory of Aggelis Lafkas”.

May his memory be eternal.

Dear Niko, Argiro and Family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy for the loss of your beloved Father, Father-in-law and Papou.
He must have been a wonderful human being and Father to have produced such a fine and outstanding family that has contributed so much and in so many ways to our Church and Community over the years. He was a well-known, respected and ever-present figure in Church every Sunday. I remember your Father so very well, Niko, without realizing that you were related, either helping Father Alex at the altar any time he was needed, sitting in the pews during Liturgy or drinking coffee downstairs in the Church hall with his fellow parishioners. He always kindly returned my greeting whenever we met at any Church gathering. I know that his deep Orthodox faith and steadfast principles and loyalty to our Church and community helped make them stronger. We all mourn his loss.

Αιωνια του η μνημη.

Wishing you courage and strength,
Maria Zoukis and Family
