It is with deep sorrow that we announce Mike’s unexpected but peaceful passing, in Ottawa.  Loving father of Kira, Kalen and Poppy McGrath. Husband of Karla Palmer, cherished son of Sean and Heather (nee Lewis) McGrath, brother of Chris and Rob McGrath.  Son-in-law of Richard and Louise Palmer, brother-in law to Jason Palmer and Sandra Law. Loving uncle to Henry Palmer. Fondly remembered by many friends, including the online Muff Wiggler modular synthesizer community. Friends and family are invited to pay respects at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa on Friday April 26 after 1 p.m. Service will be held in the Sacred Space at 2 p.m. Donations can be made in Mike’s name to Serenity Renewal for Families www.serenityrenewal.ca

Mike did so much good for the synth community and connected so many like-minded people around the world. He is missed.

I am so sorry to hear about Mike's illness and passing. I never had the opportunity to talk to him personally; but he community he founded has been crucial to rediscovering my own musical journey, and I will be forever grateful to him for that.

Mike,

You were such a nice and great guy and i remember having chats with you.
I love what you created a whole modular scene and brought everyone together!
Say hello to Don Buchla and Robert Moog.

Cheers,

Dennis

I met Mike when we were just teenagers. His kindness, infectious laugh and fearless attitude inevitably led us down the path of genuine friendship. We spent countless days trading vinyl, blasting music and checking out live Punk Rock shows in Ottawa. We refered to it as the "endless summer of 1989", seems like it was just yesterday. I'll always remember our time shared with great fondness and affection. This one hurts, going to miss you; FATHEAD.
