It is with deep sorrow that we announce Mike’s unexpected but peaceful passing, in Ottawa. Loving father of Kira, Kalen and Poppy McGrath. Husband of Karla Palmer, cherished son of Sean and Heather (nee Lewis) McGrath, brother of Chris and Rob McGrath. Son-in-law of Richard and Louise Palmer, brother-in law to Jason Palmer and Sandra Law. Loving uncle to Henry Palmer. Fondly remembered by many friends, including the online Muff Wiggler modular synthesizer community. I miss our chats about where we once were and where we were going...not only as synthesists but as a human race.
Deep down you knew that you made a difference and helped realize this synthesizer revolution. You carried the weight of that forum and stood your ground to stay true to your original intent even though it was becoming harder to manage. It had grown beyond anything you ever imagined and while at times it was rabid and hurtful it was also comforting and fruitful. It was the one place many of us could go for that escape, to feed our hungry souls, to learn, to share, to bond, to laugh and to be a part of something greater than any member could ever be on their own. SynthSpeed my Brother... I'm sure you'll visit me amongst the sinewaves.
