It is with extreme sadness and heavy hearts that the Franklin family announces the passing of Sergeant Dale Scott Franklin CD (retired). Dale passed away peacefully with family by his side on the morning 28th of June 2021 after a battle with cancer. Dale is survived by his father Captain G Scott Franklin CD (retired), his mother Mary Teresa, sisters Shannon and Tessa and brother Master Corporal Geoffrey Scott Franklin CD (Melissa). Dale will be sadly missed by his nephews Alden and Atlas and his niece Alora.
Dale was born in Pembroke Ontario and over the years moved from base to base on many postings with his family. Dale began his military career in the Airborne Cadets at CFB Petawawa after which he enrolled in the JROTC program in Fort Knox Kentucky. At the age of 18 he joined the Canadian Forces honorably serving for 22 years with both the Royal Canadian Dragoons (RCD) and the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI). Dale was deployed on the NATO mission to the former Yugoslavia with the RCD and to Afghanistan with the PPCLI.
Dale put his all in everything he did, striving to excel in both his civilian life and military career. He exemplified the work hard play hard attitude. If you were part of his team, he looked to you as part of his family. Dale enjoyed board and video games in his spare time spending many hours playing his favorite games Dungeons and Dragons and World of Warcraft at which he excelled.
Dale will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends both civilian and military. Dale will be laid to rest by his family in Beechwood National Military Cemetery. In memory of Dale, any donations to your local veteran’s organization would be appreciated.

I first met Dale when serving with his dad Scott in Petawawa in 1989-92, then enjoyed hearing about his US JROTC pursuits while visiting Scott and Mary Teresa in Fort Knox in the early 1990s. Dale, “Frankie” was a close friend of mine. We deployed to Afghanistan together and were course mates on leadership training. We shared the same taste in music and he was my go to guy for concerts.
