On Tuesday, July 27, 2021, Jean Seeney, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 years.

Predeceased by her loving husband, Lloyd Elsworth Seeney (1936-1994). Daughter to Rita Roberts and Roy Edwards. Sister to Gerald Vanstone (1930-2021). Granddaughter to Isaac Victor Vanstone and Josephine Angela Vanstone.

Jean leaves behind her adoring sons: Todd (Joselyn), Terry (Yvonne) and Tim (Sarah).  She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren who were her inspiration: Sarah Jessica, Griffin Lloyd, Rhiannon Aurora, Erin Olwen, Evan Todd and Olivia Grace.

Family was everything to Jean, and as much as she loved being “Mom”, it was her role as “Grammy” that had special meaning for her, one that she deeply cherished.

A great lover of sports, Jean was a member of the Banook Canoe Club (Dartmouth) for many years and excelled on the softball diamond.  She closely followed Ottawa sports teams, and could often be heard yelling encouragement and “advice” at the television during Ottawa Senators games.  She was an enthusiastic member of the Capital Chordettes, and volunteered many hours with the Blackburn Hamlet Community Fun Fair, Girl Guides, and the Blackburn Bengals cheerleading squad. Her other interests included crosswords, bingo, and Jeopardy.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital for their care and compassion.

A graveside service will take place at Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Ave.) will take place on Saturday, August 14th, 2021 at 3pm.

Donations may be made to the Ottawa Heart Institute.
