Written by Lynne Thompson & Jeff Thompson (mom and dad)

Today we write about mental health.

We are parents of one amazing child, but we were gifted with having two.  For those who don't know, we gave birth to a absolutely gorgeous girl who held our hearts in her hands. Later in life she came to us as a young adult and told us she had never been comfortable about her body and how he felt inside.

we made sure we had the best of the best therapists and doctors, who then gave us our very handsome, intelligent, beautiful son.

No matter what, our love was unconditional love and would always be there to keep him safe.

During these times of lockdown and social distancing it took a tole on his mental health and we missed the signs, or he just hid them that well.  Alex took himself on a walk not to return for us to hold again.

So, during these times, please in memory of Sarah Anne Thompson or Alexander Wayne Thompson our one and only child.  Speak up, get help.

Hold your loved one tighter and always say I love you no matter the event.

Due to the restrictions put in place by COVID-19, a private family gathering will be held at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services. A larger Celebration of Life will be held in Alexander's memory at a later date. For those who wish to make a donation in lieu of flowers, please do so towards the Kids Helpline, Ottawa.

Alex. I am so very sorry to be writing this. I remember when I first met you dancing the night away care free so full of life so happy. We became fast friends and dated for awhile. You introduced me to your mother and wow she was so welcoming so loving to me and my kids. Our relationship didn’t last as I would’ve liked but life is like that sometimes. I loved the conversations we used to have the laughters. Wish I could’ve been there for you through this difficult time. This is not how it should be. I’m sorry for whatever you were going through. God has claimed another Angel. Lynne I have no words. I’m sorry is just not enough. I pray you find strength through this horrible time. May you find peace may God help guide you through this. We haven’t talked in awhile but I will never forget how good Alex you and your family were to me and mine. May God bless you and please if there is anything I can do. If you even just want to talk cry. I’m here. I’m deeply sorry for this great loss. Alex. I know you will get your wings rest in paradise. This world is so hard.

Although I did not know Alexander personally, he is from my workplace and I am deeply saddened by OUR loss, HIS pain, and the parents' unimaginable sorrow. Know that many others are thinking of you.

Alex, you will be so deeply missed. You reached out to me at one of the hardest times of my life, and I know you did that kind act for many other people as well. Somehow you turned the pain and turmoil that must have been inside you into strength to look out for other people. That is the lesson I will carry with me, and I will forever be enriched for having known you. With much love to you, and with sympathy to your family through this great sadness - Barb
