Passed away peacefully at home at the age of 63 on December 4th 2020. Predeceased by his wife Renée, as well as his parents, Alexander and Edith. David will be remembered for his kind nature and putting others before all else. Whether it was throughout his fulfilling career of over 30 years at Finance and the Treasury Board, being a best friend and go-to handyman to all his friends and neighbours, or caring for his family, he was devoted to giving of himself and bringing joy to those around him. David leaves behind his adoring daughter, Alexandra, his sister Debbie (Todd), his mother-in-law Pat (Dewar), nieces and nephews (Briena, Brooke, and Danny), and many loving friends. Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, a private service will be held for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a cause near and dear to David, the Canadian Cancer Society.

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Dave's sudden passing. We had only spoken a few days before his passing. We were work colleagues for many years at TBS and I have very fond memories of those days. Dave always spoke highly of Renee and Al and his many circle of friends. He always had a story for me. I was deeply saddened to hear of Dave's passing and my heart goes out Al and to all of his family. Dace, Rene and Al lived beside my parents for close to 20 years and they became family. Dave was so kind and helpful, he would do anything for my elderly parents. He used to tease my Mother mercilessly and she loved him for it. He left this earth much too soon and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Dave was the first person to pull the “say when” joke on me. I was a kid, having slept over with my sister and Al the night before, and Dave’s commitment to having me say “when” instead of “that’s enough” led him to almost spill milk and cereal all over the floor. I will remember him for being one of the Greatest Neighbours of All time and the way that him, Al, and Renee would lovingly bicker and make one another laugh. What a wonderful, wonderful man.
I was so sad to hear of Dave’s passing. I have many fond memories of working with him at Finance and at TBS over the years. He was always smiling and upbeat (and a bit sarcastic!). He often spoke of his daughter and my condolences go out to her now in this sad time.
