It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Pollex at the age of 86. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. She leaves behind her loving husband Gerry Pollex as well as her daughters Linda (Jeff Van Allen), Judy (Jeff Beatty) and son Steve (Sunni). She was the cherished grandmother of Jason, Kara, Jenna, Dana and Samantha. Joan is survived by her brothers Rene (late Marg), George (Ginette), Richard, (late Mary) and Phil (Sonya). She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Ed and Bernie as well as sisters Gloria Levere, Vera Smith and Audrey Strong.

Joan will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Joan was a long time employee of EMCO Limited and retired in 1999. In her retirement Joan enjoyed spending time with family and friends, visiting the cottage and going to the Casino.

In lieu of flowers, memoriam donations to the Regional Cancer Center Foundation (www.ottawacancer.ca) would be appreciated.

Steve, Judy, Linda and Gerry,
We are deeply sorry for your loss. I will always have fond memories about Mrs P. She was always so good to us growing up. I can still see her cheering from the stands at all of our hockey games. She rarely missed one!

I'm so glad we had time to speak on the phone in September, and I have some nice messages from you that reminded me to be present in my day to day and thankful for what I have. I will always carry with me the many memories from the 45 years you were in my life. As a child, climbing in your apple tree, and eating all of your amazing baked goodies, or your Christmas tree that was always my very favourite to see on the holidays. I also remember going to bingo with you and a funny story about my Dad giving you a "good luck charm" for bingo.

You did what you were meant to do in this world: you brought love into it and you kept it going. Your family was always close, and your heart was always open to friends. Thanks for being such a wonderful neighbour and very dear friend to my parents. You will always be in my heart, Joan, as will Jerry and your entire family. Extra warm regards to Jason, my old childhood friend. Joan, may your spirit travel well. xo

It was great being neighbours with you, Joan. We had so many chats, sharing lots of stories, hearing about your baking sessions with the girls, times at the cottage. Bill and I moved to our street with a new baby, you became one of my Moms, saved me when I forgot my key, gave me great advice, gave me friendship and support. I will always remember you. Heartfelt condolences to your whole family.
