Stanislao (“Stan”) Cundari passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2020. Stan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He leaves behind his wife Maria, sons Alfredo, Diego, and Geronimo, daughter-in-law Stephanie, grandsons Lionel and Marcelo, sister Sara, nephews Michael and Matthew, and best friend Barbara. A service will be held on November 7th, 2020, at Beechwood Cemetery.
Born in Figline Vegliaturo, Italy, on October 20th, 1955, his family immigrated to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, when he was five. Growing up along the Saint Lawrence Seaway, Stan went on to study Commerce at the University of Windsor and moved to Ottawa shortly after to volunteer with the United-Way of Ottawa-Carleton. As a social worker for over 30 years, Stan made a lasting, positive impact in the lives of countless individuals living with mental health problems in the Ottawa region.
At home, Stan could be found reading about North American explorers alongside his cats. Never one to stay indoors for too long, Stan was a competent outdoorsman and fisherman, a passion he passed on to his children and grandchildren. A generous and caring soul, Stan will be dearly missed and remembered by his family and friends. May his name be written into the Book of Life.

Stan I would never have believed that our email to each other on September 2nd which was our 45th anniversary of going away to Windsor University together would be the last time I would have emailed you.
I valued our friendship that started in elementary school and even though we have lived in different cities for a while whenever you came home to the soo we got together and caught up with what was going on in our lives. I will continue remembering our anniversary until we meet again. Rest in peace my friend.

We are very sorry to hear of Stan’s passing ... Although it’s been some time since we were last in touch, I am very grateful to have known and shared quality time with Stan, a truly special human being and friend during our younger years in life. I will always have fond memories of him. He was a calm, quiet, very kind, helpful, caring, selfless, and genuine human being who found joy in the simpler things in life. He was a comforting and caring friend always willing to listen and offer help. I am falling short of words to express my deepest sorrow on the sudden demise of my dear friend and neighbor!
Stan Cundari was a remarkable man. He touched many souls in his life (including mine); and as a social worker made a positive difference in the lives of many people. I will always remember how he yelled “Hello” with a friendly smile, as soon as he saw me pulling out of my driveway. I will remember his consoling stories about how his dad coped with his mother’s passing when my mother died around this time last year; and I'll never forget how his helpful hands removed snow from my driveway in winter.
I pray from the bottom of my heart that Stan’s dear soul would rest in peace and his family would have the strength to face these dark times and continue to live in Stan's absence.
Stan's absence in this world does not mean that he doesn’t exist … He exists as long as memory and humanity exist.
