Eddy So died peacefully in Ottawa, October 26, 2020, aged 79. Beloved husband of Lilian Ong, loving father to Stephanie (Lucas) and Natasha (Matthew), and Super Opa to Winnie and Oscar. Son of So Swie Chong and Tjan Po Nio, brother to the late Christine (Willy) of Indonesia, and to Dr. Rudy Santoso (Celina) of North Carolina, U.S.A. Dr. Eddy So, P. Eng., FIEEE obtained his first engineering degree (Ingenieur EE, 1964) from the Institute of Technology Bandung, Indonesia. He obtained his M.Sc.E.E in 1968 and D.Sc.E.E. in 1973, both from George Washington University, U.S.A. He immigrated to Canada in 1976 and worked for the National Research Council (NRC) Canada for more than 40 years, until he retired in 2018. He was responsible for the improvement of high accuracy electrical measurements, particularly in high voltage applications. Dr. So trained technical and professional staff not only at NRC but in many other laboratories in Europe, Asia and South America. His numerous high accuracy measuring equipment manufactured in Canada is now used in laboratories around the world. He was loved by many, and will be missed dearly.
