On Friday, Kenneth (Ken) Carlyle Williams, loving husband of Marge Williams (deceased) and father of Ken Jr. and Susan, passed away at the age of 95 at Madonna Care of complications from Covid 19.
Ken was born on August 30, 1924 in Toronto, Ontario, to James and Emily (Howard) Williams. He started working at Simpsons-Sears at the age of 16 in the shipping dept. He joined the army at the age of 17 as a signalman and returned to Sears after the war where he was promoted several times, working as a buyer in men’s clothing, then carpeting. He finished his career as the controller of the sporting goods dept and retired at the age of 55. Ken and his wife Marge then became Snowbirds splitting their time between New Port Richie, Florida and their cottage on Round Lake in the Kawarthas.
On Sept 15, 1950, he married Marjorie (Marge) Helen Whittaker. They raised a son Ken Jr. and daughter Susan.
Ken’s passion was his cottage on Round Lake where he spent weekends and summers and eventually retired to. Playing cards and fishing took up most of his day only interrupted by Cocktails at 4:00. Music that he could sing or dance to, filled the rest of his waking hours.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie and his brother Jim Williams. He is survived by his son Ken Jr. (Brenda), daughter Susan Dithurbide (Mike), granddaughters Julie Dithurbide and Kristen Antoine (Will) and great granddaughters Haley and Chloe Antoine as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ken’s ashes will be interned with his wife Marjorie’s ashes at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa. A memorial service will be held at a future date once Covid restrictions are eased. Donations can be made to the local COVID -19 relief fund of your choice.

So sad to hear this news about my cousin Ken. I only met Ken once (apart from a video link at cousin Jean's 80th party) when he was over here in UK during the war. I was only about 6 or 7 but clearly recall what a likable and cheerful man he was. I am sure he will be sadly missed by all his family and friends to whom Wendy and I send our sincere condolences.
