Our beautiful Sophia Randell “Made with Love”, you warmed our hearts and our spirit. Smile on one hand and courage on the other.

It is with profound heartache that we announce the passing of our beloved Unstoppable Sophia. She will be sorely missed, but greater than the sorrow from her departure is the joy that she spread in our lives.

SOPHIA NOUHA RANDELL passed away peacefully on May 2nd ,2020, at the age of seven, surrounded by her loving family. A caring, funny, outgoing beautiful little girl, Sophia leaves behind her broken parents Liliane Hajjar and Jason Randell and older brothers Jacob and Liam, who will miss the love and joy she brought into their lives.

She is predeceased by her Teta Nouha and Jidou Michel Hajjar, as well as her Nan Sophia and Pop Ephraim Randell. Her uncles, Roland, Roger and Willis Randell.

She will be greatly missed by her loving aunts and uncles Marina(Bernard), Ibtissam(Keith), Alissar(Mark), Brent(Chantal), Curtis(Nathalie), Guy(Jeannette), Minnie(Brian), Kevin(Bonnie), Perry(Jeannette), Neta(Allen) and Donna(Dan).

Sophia leaves behind many wonderful and loving cousins she loved to spend time with, including, Angelina, Mikaela, Jasmine, Veronica, Lindsey, Alexandra, Christian, Yvette and Kami of Ottawa, along with those across Ontario and Newfoundland.  She will be missed by so many friends who enjoyed her laughter and love for life.

Our family is so grateful to the team of doctors, nurses and support staff at CHEO who worked tirelessly and compassionately in the efforts to find a cure for her brain cancer, including Dr. Donna Johnston, our pillar of strength, who devoted many years supporting and guiding us. Dr. David McAuley and Belinda Dundon, who fought with us and faced every storm with the brave Sophia, the love and dedication of Dr. Eva Tomiak and Chantal Lessard. A special thank you to the nurses and support staff on 4WEST, Medical Day Unit and MRI Department for your incredible and loving support. We also wish to give a warm thank you to the amazing palliative team and all staff at Roger Neilson House for giving us a home away from home and for the support every step of this journey. We recognize the exceptional work you do with all children and families.

To our Randell Army, thank you for your indescribable love and support.

Merci à notre équipe de Ste-Justine, surtout Annie et Marie-Hélène pour les soins particuliers que vous avez portés à notre petite fille.

Through it all she knew how to value life. Her legacy is to remind us that the greatest thing you’ll ever learn is to love and be loved in return.

The forever twinkle in our eyes, sweet dreams our Unstoppable Sophia.

On behalf of Princess Sophia please consider donating in honour of her memory to onewish.ca, Roger Neilson House, The CHEO Foundation, Candlelighters or Camp Quality.

Sadly, the beautiful send off we have prepared for Sophia will be postponed to a later date due to the current circumstances.
