***Memorial Service Scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Beechwood is cancelled. As a result of a changing situation regarding the Coronavirus and travel restrictions affecting some family members, please note the Memorial Service will be rescheduled at a later date.***

Peacefully on Sunday, March 8th, 2020 at her home in Ottawa. Jeanette, daughter of Dearden and Maude Lillian (Moore) Rigg, was born on November 8th, 1928 at Dunnville Ontario. Jeanette attended BSS and Trinity College in Toronto. She became a school teacher, following her profession in high schools in Ontario, before signing a contract with the Canadian Department of National Defence in the mid 1950s to teach the children of airmen serving at the Canadian NATO air force base at Gros Tenquin, France during the Cold War. There she met an RCAF pilot, Bill Arthurs, whom she married on December 31, 1957 after they both had returned to Canada. In past years Jeanette was active in Ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arrangement, as a member of Ikebana International, Ottawa Centennial Chapter where she studied the Sogetsu School of Ikebana. She was also a past-president of the Ottawa Orchid Society. In 2013 she received a Citation of Excellence from the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa (BIFHSCO) “in recognition of outstanding contributions to the work of the society.” She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Frederick Rigg, and sister Isobel Freedman. She will be remembered with great love by her husband, William, and two children, Sue Anderson and husband Brian, and David and wife Erin; and a grandson, Peter, who is studying at the University of Toronto. Her family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Retire-At-Home Services for the excellent care given to her over the past months. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lung Health Foundation would be appreciated.

My deepest sympathies Bill to you and your family. I have treasured memories of your family hospitality back in the 60's in Montreal, and again over the many years in Ottawa.
