Passed away peacefully in hospital on Monday, March 9, 2020 at the age of 70 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Souad Nasr Zakhem for 47 years. Loving father of George and Tania Zakhem, cherished father-in-law to Jennifer and Alexandru. He is survived by his brothers Samir, George, Edward, Michel, Khalil, his sister Katia, and their families. He is predeceased by his parents Abdulmassih and Georgette Zakhem, and his beloved brother Jabbour. Friends and Family may call at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, located at 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario. Viewing from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, followed by a short service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation on behalf of Hanna may do so through the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, The Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choosing.

I was always impressed by John's perseverance walking every day. He often stopped to chat with me when I was outside. He enjoyed eating my prunes in the fall from my garden. I will miss him.
