Joan S. Pawliuk (nee Keeler), 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 14, 2019 at The Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre in Ottawa. Born on January 14, 1931 in Edmonton, Alberta. She is preceded in death by loving parents, Philip and Emily Keeler, and two brothers Tony and Richard.

Survivors include her beloved husband Paul, of 69 years, her sister Jackie Wilson of Woodlawn, Ontario, her four much loved children Deborah (Robert) David of Courtney, BC, Philip (Janet) of Kingston, Richard (Tracy) of Ottawa and Barbara (Robert) Erlandson of Ottawa; her grandchildren of whom she was so proud Stephanie Collinson, Christopher (Bethany) Pawliuk, Kyle Pawliuk, Evan (Jacquelyn) Pawliuk, Matthew Dickey, Andrew (Kendall) Erlandson and Leah (Michael) Farber;  six great grandchildren who provided her with joy Hannah, Maya, and Ella Collinson, Isabelle and Oliver Pawliuk and Reagan Farber.

Joan was a devoted wife and mother who loved nothing more than providing for, and helping, her family and friends. She and Paul spent many years travelling from the Middle East and Europe to Hawaii and all points in between. Trips often included visiting their children and grandchildren.

A celebration of Joan’s life will be held Saturday, September 21, from 12pm to 2pm at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beachwood Avenue, Ottawa.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Perley for the attention and care Joan received during her stay. Thanks also to her devoted caregivers Bernadette and Rama.

Donations to Parkinsons Canada would be greatly appreciated.

My mother, Vera Devereaux, was a friend of Joan's for many years. I remember visiting Joan at her home when I was young. She was always so nice to me. My condolences to the family.
