Alyson died peacefully at Elmsmere residence in the presence of dear friends. She was the daughter of Jean Louise Forrester and the late Neil Angus Smith. Alyson survived many life challenges with courage, grace and a quirky sense of humour. She was a lover of cats, especially Titi, and a huge fan of Star Wars. Alyson worked for the NRC for 17 years following graduation from Algonquin College. She was a long-time member of Dominion Chalmers United Church and then MacKay United Church. Alyson will be greatly missed by her mother and her many friends, both young and old. We wish to thank the exceptionally caring staff at Elmsmere Villa, her nurses and caregivers from the LHIN and Bayshore Community Services, Dr. Lominy and physiotherapist Pat Fejes. Alyson was christened on board a ship and will take her farewell voyage at MacKay United Church, 39 Dufferin Road, Ottawa, on Tuesday, July 23rd at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may donate to the Canadian Diabetes Association – Ottawa Regional Office.
