She is survived by sons Lee (Sherry), Colin (Sue) and Jamie, along with grandchildren Rachel (Richard), Eric, Richard, Donna (Avery) and Andrew, and great grandchild Tyson. She was devoted to her family and friends, and actively supported several worthwhile causes. She was a lifetime member of the Britannia Yacht Club and was a seasoned traveller.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at the Ottawa Hospital for their wonderful care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

My sympathy for the loss of your mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
So saddened by the news of our aunt, Joan’s, death. She was a uniquely strong woman who was a free thinker and had extraordinary wit and intelligence. Above all, she loved her family; Stanley and her three ‘boys’ were so important to her and she was immensely proud of Lee, Colin and Jamie and their families. Most of all, Joan will be remembered for her brilliant sense of humour and the fact that she wasn’t averse to getting up to mischief! Sleep tight, Joan, thank you for all your kindness, how you put up with me, Gwen, as a teenager I’ll never know!! Thinking of you all.
