Born July 6, 1948 in Calgary, Alberta. Passed away peacefully on January 4, 2020 at The Ottawa Hospital – General Campus, of lung and liver cancer in his 72nd year. Lovingly remembered by partner Lana Shaw, children Meaghan and Ian Stevenson and former wife Linda Stevenson. Also lovingly remembered by his sister, Betty Ann Zegarac, nephew and niece, Dan (Larysa) and Stephanie Zegarac, brother-in-law, Armin Irvin, and best friends, Douglas Gamble, and Margaret and John Lockwood. Jim was a great uncle to five great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by father and mother, Grant and Anne Stevenson (née Bacon) and his sister Linda Stevenson. Throughout his life, Jim was a manager of a gas station, a member of the Governor General Foot Guards, a developmental service worker, a museum conservator and curator, and a heritage carpenter. He enjoyed riding horses in the rodeos in Calgary area and taking trips out west and east on his Honda tour motorcycle. Jim was fortunate to travel overseas twice. He went to England to see East Sussex and London, and to France to see the military battlefields and Paris. He was also the family genealogist and loved fishing, hunting and walking beside the Ottawa River. Special thanks to the family medical and palliative care teams at the Ottawa General Hospital and Careco sitters that gave Jim excellent service while in hospital. Cremation has taken place. Spring interment will be held at Beechwood Cemetery. Donations can be given to the charity of your choice or the Ottawa Hospital Foundation. May Jim rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to you Landa and the James Stevenson extended family on your loss of a great partner. Although I did not know James personally, it is apparent from his beautifully crafted obituary that he impacted many areas of the greater Ottawa community with much facility and munificence. His presence and resourcefulness will be missed by many.
