Hayat died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.  She is predeceased by her husband, Michel Kronfli.  They will be waltzing together in heaven.

Hayat is survived by her son Risk Kronfli and daughter-in-law Beverly Gillis-Kronfli; her daughter Randa and son-in-law Gilbert Boileau; as well as her precious grandson and granddaughter, Michael and Nicole Bell.

She touched the life of everyone she met, with her radiating smile, contagious optimism and abundant love, she is the queen of our hearts.

She was born in Homs, Syria, to Rafik Eneini and Adele Abboud, predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Youssef (Soad Samara), Josephine (Youssof Samara), Abdel Messih (Lilly Sabbagh), recently Rafika (Rafaat Abou Khater), Muguette (Kamal Ahwach), and Yorky (Jeannette Eneini)

After high school while studying pharmacy in university, people would ask her, "Why not get married instead?” to which she replied, "Not even if it was prince charming". She then met Michel, and when they asked, "Is he prince charming?" she said “Better”, with a big smile.

She moved to Egypt where she lived for 30 years before making Canada her forever home. First Toronto then Ottawa with Randa and Gilbert. She enjoyed visiting Risk and Bev in Halifax and visited often to boat and meet friends.  Her food extravaganzas and parties were always the topic of many conversations.

Hayat loved travelling and lived life to the fullest. She so loved her family and friends that she used any excuse to go visit. In one trip she circled the earth, from Canada to Europe, to Thailand, to Australia, and back to Canada.

She leaves behind her many loving nieces and nephews scattered across the globe.  Rania, Lynn, Fares, Yola and Rindala Samara and their families; Rabie, Rima, Roula and the late Rezk Abu Khater and their families; Magd and Amer Eneini and their families; Rafik and Maha Eneini and their families; Mazen and Hazar Eneini and their families; Hala Ahwash and her family; her nephews and nieces in law, Wedad, Huda, Jim and Nadia; Ted, Mona and Paul. To her family in Ottawa, Sarrouf, Hamwi, and Sabbagh, she was a mother figure and best friend, celebrating many of her birthdays and special occasions.

Her love to all was palpable, remember her in your prayers and with a big smile for all the memories.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.

I am grateful for Tante Hayat.

She is a force of nature. The good parts of nature. The kind nature. The happy part of nature.

I am grateful I grew up around her.

I am grateful I am loved by her and that I love her back.

I am grateful that some of my first and most lasting memories are in the living room of her Heliopolis apartment which was always filled with joy and laughter and a deep feeling of family safety and comfort.

She knows all the best Syrian food recipes and we always had the best meals around her table. And when asked, she always generously gives a detailed and thorough description about how to replicate it.

She is an excellent Khayata and teaches her skills to anyone who would ask.
The dresses she made me took part in some of the most important moments of my teen life - and the conversations around them - while she pinned them smaller or cut them wider - took a part in shaping me!

She gives with abundance and generosity that are unparalleled. She gives everything: love, time, gifts, memories, stories, smiles, and laughs, and pure radiating positivity.

She never forgets a date, event, story or person.

She knows everyone's linage and stories - but i never heard her say anything ill about a single person.

Everyone is her family, and Everyone is related to her one way or the other. And this is what she makes everyone feel. Love, Family and inclusion.

She is one of the most positive and happy people I met - REFUSING to let anything phase her.

She stands up for everything she believes in and is outspoken - ever so softly - but with a loud and distinctive voice.

The sound of her laughter is a trademark. And is always contagious.

And her smile - the way she 'betzem' her lips cutely as she smiles is the image I always remember of her.

I am grateful for her love of life, of travel, of good food and of seeking joy. And for all the stories she came back with from life journey.

I am grateful for her forgiving heart and that she always expects the best out of people, never taking anything to seriously.

She was a second mother to my father in his childhood and a dear friend as he grew older. And to me she is the closest thing I got to a grandmother that stayed around. However, I never felt she was much older. Tante Hayat was the same age and the same spirit from the moment I met her 30+ years ago until the last time I saw her.

She is a role model to Me. One I wish I can emulate.

I will miss her immensely.

Dear Risk and your siblings and loved ones:
I send my sincere sympathy across the miles as you mourn the loss of your dear mom. I enjoyed reading about her life and what she shared with the world and each of you. No doubt her many wonderful qualities helped each of you become who you are today. May her impact on you and her memory continue to live on through each of you as you continue on your journey. Kind Regards, Rachel Boehm

Hayat invited me into her home over 25 years ago and was always there when I came to visit the family in Ottawa and Mississauga. Her smile and her hugs will always be remembered. I will miss you.

“Shoo hal hagga?” Tante Hayat was the most enigmatic, generous, joyous tante. From visiting her in Egypt when I was 6 or her dance moves at my wedding when I was 36, she’ll always be the life of the party - and the champion of every generation. She’ll missed immensely and remembered with pure happiness.

Much love Rami, Karolina, Cleo (2) and Baby Max
