With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lucy Chitra on November 21st, 2019 in Ottawa. After facing health issues for many years with courage and grace, Lucy has found peace. She will be remembered for her abundant love for family and positive and gentle support in all their endeavours.
Lucy leaves a large family who will miss her deeply. This includes husband Walter, son Murray (Debra), daughters Anna (Dan), Jill (Andrew), seven granddaughters, three great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons. She is also survived by brother Ted Ramsay (Ottawa, On) and sisters Isabel Finney (Phoenix, Az) and Elsie McGrath (Sydney, NS).
Lucy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as walking ocean beaches, family picnics, reading, playing cards and swimming. She was an optimist who was always eager for new experiences: joining the youngsters on the waterslide, swimming in Lake Ontario in late October or trying new foods.
Lucy traveled extensively throughout Canada, the United States and further afield to places, such as Cuba, New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Hawaii, London, Paris, and Rome. Being a voracious reader, on any extended trip, her first stop was always the library. Her friendly persona attracted many who felt free to share their most personal stories.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave) on Sunday, December 15th, 2019 from 12-2pm followed by a Tribute. Flowers or contributions in Lucy’s memory to the Alzheimer Society Canada are welcome.
For those who cannot join us; fond memories of Lucy and messages to the family can be shared at http://www.beechwoodottawa.ca/en/services/lucy-chitra
