It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Norton, peacefully at home, after a brief illness. Norton is survived by his bride of 73 years, Ruth (Beryl) Lenore James, daughters Lynda Marie Huber (husband Leonard), Susan Ruth Bowen (husband Robert) Debra Joan Reimer (husband Blaine), sons Donald William James and Douglas Norton James (wife Julia). Norton was predeceased by son Robert LLoyd James. Norton is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Norton lived a wonderful life of service for 95 years. Having served honorably in the RAF, Norton was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for gallantry during WWII. Upon his return to Canada, Norton continued his life of service, first with the Provincial Government of Saskatchewan, building vital infrastructure for future generations, and finishing his professional life with the Government of Canada, Ministry of Environment, protecting Canada’s water supply and water management.
Norton will be remembered for his serious approach to life, but mostly for his devotion to his wife of 73 years, Beryl. We, his family, are better people for having such a man in our lives.
