It is with a heavy heart that the Bourdeau family announces the passing of Jacqueline Bourdeau (née Chartrand). Deceased a few weeks before her 97th birthday, she left to be with God and her deceased loved-ones.

An affectionate bond also remained between her and Lorraine Bourdeau (born Côté), Mary Pensky (born Ogorek), Elizabeth Delarosbel and Tania Bourdeau (born Iwasyszyn).
While raising her 11 children, Jacqueline, being exceptionally gifted in her specialty of helping children struggling with reading difficulties, created and perfected over many years, an original teaching tool entitled 'Structure base de la lecture'. Always thinking of others, she provided it, without charge, thus making it possible for innumerable children to succeed in life. A firm believer in the richness of languages, Jacqueline, throughout her life, also supported and contributed to francophone fulfilment.

My sincere condolences to the entire Bourdeau family in the passing of their sweet mama who I feel was such an honor to have met and grown to love in the past year and a half. What I witnessed in this family was a true example of how love bonds together in times of need. The commitment her children demonstrated to ensuring she was comfortable and cared for was a beautiful thing to witness. I also saw how important God was in her life and she lived life with contentment and gratitude. I had the privilege of visiting her before she passed and I said to her she did a wonderful job in raising such a beautiful family. As I hummed the song Amazing Grace, I prayed for her to have a peaceful entry into heaven and God was listening.

You will always be in my heart and in my mind. You tought me many things over the years and spoiled me every chance you had with afternoons at the pool, days out picking blueberries and after that bowls full of blueberries, brown sugar and cream. Your stories of times long past and lessons learnt have helped me appreciate things and people around me.
You taught me that familly is more important than anything else in the world and that rang true to your final moments.
I will hold your memory forevermore in my own and will pass down your teachings to my own children one day.
Love you now and always!

My mother asked me to let the Bourdeau family know how much she appreciates the friendship she shared with Jacqueline and the whole family, and that you are all in her prayers as you face the loss of your wonderful mother. I was so happy to be able to accompany my mom on a visit to Ottawa to see Jacqueline last year, and so thankful to Daniel for making it possible. We both hope it helps the family to know that your mother touched our lives and she is a beacon of how much one person can do to leave the world a better place.
With gratitude and love, Hendrika

Jacqueline was a loving giving soul who was a positive influence in other people's lives including her family, friends, students and her community. Her positive affection onto others is such a wonderful gift because it is passed on through God's brothers and sisters in life and continues when someone has passed. Thank you Jacqueline for blessing us with your gifts and passing them to others in the spiritual life.

I have only now found out about the passing of Madam Bourdeau, and sadly of my friend, her son Jacques. I am devastated. Jacques was one of two people I first met moving to Sudbury ON, who became real friends. Madam Bourdeau and the whole family for that matter accepted me to their homes simply because I was Jacques' friend. She was kind and gentle with us and put up with more than she should have from us teens. Still there was an open door, a smile, and good food always. Over the years I lost touch with Jacques because of moves and being a country apart. I saw him last here in BC where he was working on a contract and my friends here still speak of him. We spoke a few times after but lost touch and my efforts to find him were in vain.
Condolences to the family at this late date seem trite but I feel it none the less. I miss my friend all the more and wish to express my gratitude for the kindness of Madam Bourdeau.
