C'est avec tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Me Paul Fortin, décédé le 3 décembre 2020, à l’âge de 32 ans.
Il était le fils de Luc Fortin et de Mariette Fyfe-Fortin. Outre ses parents, il laisse dans le deuil sa sœur chérie Julie (Jean-Robert Ouellette), sa tendre amie Daphné Ouimet, son grand-père Lionel Fyfe, sa tante Micheline Fyfe, sa grand-mère Claire Traversy Fortin, ses oncles Guy Fortin, Jean-Pierre Fortin (Marlène Côté), Marc Fortin (Céline Couture) et sa tante Maryse Fortin (Daniel Lachapelle), et plusieurs autres membres de sa famille ainsi que de nombreux ami-e-s.
Avocat, Paul était membre du Barreau de l’Ontario. Bénévole engagé dans le secteur communautaire francophone, il faisait également partie du Club Richelieu Vanier-Laurier, de l’Association Champlain Fondateur et de la Fondation Richelieu Ottawa.
Afin de respecter les consignes gouvernementales sur la COVID-19, seules les personnes invitées personnellement par la famille pourront être présentes aux funérailles.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Master Paul Fortin, Thursday December 3, 2020, at the age of 32. He was the son of Luc Fortin and Mariette Fyfe-Fortin. Beloved brother of Julie (Jean-Robert Ouellette), he also leaves his loving partner Daphné Ouimet, his grand-father Lionel Fyfe, his aunt Micheline Fyfe, his grand-mother Claire Traversy Fortin, his uncles Guy Fortin, Jean-Pierre Fortin (Marlène Côté), Marc Fortin (Céline Couture) and his aunt Maryse Fortin (Daniel Lachapelle), as well as many family members and numerous friends.
A Lawyer, Paul was a member of the Law Society of Ontario. As a volunteer, he was involved in many francophone community organizations that include the Club Richelieu Vanier-Laurier, the ’Association Champlain Fondateur’ and ‘La Fondation Richelieu Ottawa’.
Due to Covid regulations, only guests who are invited by the family will attend the memorial service.

Dear Luc and Mariette. My heart breaks for you and your family. I didn't know Paul but the tributes left by others make it clear that he followed in the footsteps of his father, a respected former colleague with a sharp mind, a keen wit and a gentle soul. J'ai eu la chance de connaître Paul à travers le travail à la Commission de la fonction publique. Je garde le beau souvenir d'une personne bienveillante, sympathique, qui savait inclure tout le monde dans une discussion et les mettre à l'aise. Though I did not have the chance to work with and get to know Paul personally, I do know that his passing has left his family and those close to him with a missing piece in their hearts. My most sincere condolences to you all. Paul's memory will live on through you and he will be in your hearts forever.
I am the manager of a team that was one of Paul's clients at the Public Service Commission. My team was shocked and saddened by the news of Paul's passing.
We have taken time to reflect on Paul and our memories of him this week. He was always so cheerful and professional and kind. His legal advice was always welcome and he supported files that safeguard the principles of the public service. Paul did important work and you can feel proud of the contribution he made.
I have also reflected on how pleasant it was to deal with Paul. He always displayed such a charming playfulness and kindness. He visited my team often for work reasons but we always had a laugh together while we worked.
He was a pleasure to work with Paul. He was special and we miss him already.
