It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Amer Kaur Sahota, on Thursday May 2, 2019 at the age of 91.
Born in Jabowal Village in Punjab, India, she traveled with 3 small children to join her husband and build a better life in Canada. Her life centred around her family and together with our dad, she created a wonderful life for us in Ottawa. She was our rock. Nurturing, thoughtful, and selfless, she always put everyone else first. She will be missed immensely by her close and extended family and lifelong friends in Canada, USA, India and England.
Amer Kaur was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Joginder Singh Sahota, her parents Swarn Singh and Kartari Kaur, her brothers Amrik, Mehjer, and Jagjit, her son Gurcharanjit, her granddaughter Amanprit and her nephews Gurpal and Haripal.
She is survived by her children Satinder, Amerjit (Cori), and Premjit (Rachel), her grandchildren Ashley, Joshua, Amber, and Justin, her nieces Kulvinder, Jaswinder, and Sentoche, and her nephews Gurnek, Avtar, Harmech and Satnam.
The family would like to thank family physician Dr. Kathryn McFarland, nurses Marguerite Jolibois, Navdeep Mann, Gurpreet Garcha, and Mandeep Sidhu, PSWs Angela Bertrand, Regina Padou, Kirsten Robertson, Mandeep Dhiman, Mandeep Ghotra, Yvette, and Minh, and physiotherapists Tausif Patel and Mona Kalra for their excellent and compassionate care of our mother.
Visitation: Wed. May 8, 2019 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Beechwood.
Funeral: Thurs. May 9, 2019 at 12:00 pm at Beechwood followed by Langar (shared meal) and prayers at the Ottawa Gurdwara.
Akhand Paath Sahib from Sunday May 12, 2019 at 2:00 to Tuesday May 14, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Family will be present at the Gurdwara on May 13th from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm and on Tuesday May 14th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
