Black, Margaret Gail, (nee Harrison) passed away peacefully on September 2nd.
Gail was born in 1941 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. She is survived by her loving children Jeff (Sonja Logan) and Angela (Dave Poynter) & her 3 grandchildren, Arianna & Liam Black and Grace Santin.
Gail and her siblings followed their parents Jack & Margaret Harrison to Ottawa for his years in parliament from Medstead , Sk. She and her sisters (Miriam, & Carol) and brother JB grew up as youth here in Ottawa.
She will be dearly missed by her all her friends and family, especially her school chums Mary D and Julie Ann M.
She met a young teacher named Larry Black of Belleville and they were married on Dominion Day 1967.
In recent years, Gail was a resident of Carlingview Manor in Ottawa. The family extends special appreciation to all the staff that worked so hard to keep mum safe and healthy in this year of Covid 19.
In memoriam donations to The Alzheimer’s Society and Diabetes Canada appreciated by the family.

I went to Nepean High School with Gail, she lived four houses away from me on Woodroffe Avenue. Gail was a smart, caring and compassionate. Years later a group of NHS gals would get together periodically and I always enjoyed my talks with Gail.

in 1978 we arrived in Ottawa. Gail was the first person who spoke to us and offered help in a warm and friendly way, she was wearing a brown leather jacket with a belt at the waist. After the greeting she trip trotted down the driveway to her teaching job. Over the yeas as neighbours we came to be good friends and knew we could help each other out. Gail was very talented, a brilliant seamstress, creative and hugely generous in the use of their pool, and a formidable gardener - and a second career as real estate agent.

We moved next door to Gail and Larry in 2004, and Gail arrived on our doorstep the day we moved in with a delicious zucchini bread. That set the tone our relationship as neighbours. She was very generous sharing gardening knowledge as well as welcoming us to use their pool on many occasions. We were very sad for her as her vibrant personality succumbed to Alzheimers.

I knew Gail (and her mom, Carol and JB) from when I grew up on Woodroffe Ave. She was always so warm and friendly. Many years later, she helped my wife and I with the purchase of our home. I am very sorry to hear of her passing and extend my sincere condolences to her family.
I met Gail at Macdonald College. She was a warm friendly person with a kind disposition.
